Social excellence awards for 'Changemakers of Year' in India, AMP holds function in Delhi

NEW DELHI: Individuals in varied fields who have been instrumental in making a positive change in society, were felicitated and given awards at a function in the national capital on the occasion of Independence Day. 

Apart from journalists, educationists and activists, the organisations that have been working at the ground level, also got recognised for their efforts. The President of AMP Aamir Edresy gave the keynote address while the association's Connect Project Head Farooq Siddiqui announced the awards. 

The awards were given in four categories viz. Education, Employment Assistance, Humanitarian Assistance and Minority, Human Rights Issues. A three tier screening was conducted at the State and Zonal level to shortlist the nominations.

The winners were selected by a jury comprising eminent personalities. The changemakers were thus selected and their names announced. The individuals who got AMP NASE Change Maker awards include people who went beyond their personal and social limitations and made a difference in the lives of the underprivileged. 

Senior journalist Shams Ur Rehman Alavi, the founder of pioneering media initiative TCN Kashif Ul Huda, journalists Asad Ashraf, Shahnawaz Akhtar, Dr Sana Ali Khan, Dr Farook G Patel and Faiqa Saulat Khan were amongst the Change Makers of the Year 2023.

Late Zaheeruddin Ali Khan, who was Executive Editor, Siasat daily, was honoured with a special lifetime achievement award while Omar Khatani Special Award was given to Business and Employment Bureau, Jamia Hamdard. A complete list of the awards is available here.

The NGOs that have been selected include Ajmal Foundation, All India Educational Movement (AIEM), Delhi, All India Payam E Insaniyat Forum, Uttar Pradesh, Daya Rehabilitation Trust Thanal, Kerala, Miles2Smile Foundation, Delhi, Manappat Foundation, Kerala and M S Education Academy, Telangana

Chancellor, Jamia Hamdard, Hammad Ahmad, former Union minister and the President Hamdard National Foundation - HECA, Chief Guest Tariq Anwar, Prof. Akhtarul Wasey, Prof. Mohammad Afshar Alam who is Vice Chancellor, Jamia Hamdard, the President of AMP Aamir Edresy and Farooq Siddiqui who is National Head, AMP NGO Connect, were present.

The event was held at Hakeem Abdul Hameed Auditorium, Jamia Hamdard, Hamdard Nagar, New Delhi. The event also included the bestowal of the Lifetime Achievement Award and the Omar Khatani Special Award. The nominations for these awards were called from across India. With the efforts of AMP NGO Connect Team, National Coordination Team (NCT), Zonal Heads and State Leadership Team, AMP has received unprecedented nominations of Changemakers from across the country.
