Bhopal: Three separate entrance tests for mere 21 private medical and dental colleges is sending out strong scam whiff in Madhya Pradesh already reeling under the Vyapam scam controversy.
Different groups of private colleges have proposed three different entrance tests – to be held on May 14, 15 and 17 respectively - for admission to mere 21 medical and dental colleges in state.
Activists have said that the separate entrance tests would not only be very cumbersome for students, but are also in violation of Supreme Court and MP High Court orders.
Ex-MLA Paras Saklecha, who is whistleblower for Vyapam as well as DMAT (dental and medical admission test of private colleges) scam and Ajay Dubey, Vyapam whistleblower, on Thursday demanded that the state government immediately take action to ensure that only single entrance test is held for admission to all these colleges and that too in online format according to HC directives.
Saklecha, whose petition in HC in 2015 ensured an online DMAT entrance has also filed a petition in Supreme Court seeking CBI inquiry into the DMAT tests held between 2004 and 2014. “The apex court sought state government’s response on the matter, but it has failed to respond in eight months showing its deep involvement in the scam,” Saklecha said while talking to NewsBits.in
He said that Supreme Court had allowed separate entrance test for 43% seats in private medical and dental colleges, but had not allowed different tests for different colleges. Also the organizers were misleading the students in prospectus as they were mentioning the overall seat availability instead of 43% pool. Also the last dates for submitting application forms for the tests is just two days before the test, which indicates chances of scam.
The activists warned that if the state government did not step in, they would start an agitation on the issue and seek legal recourse too.
