JAIPUR: A case has been registered against a doctor and two other members of the hospital staff for alleged remarks that they won't treat Muslim patients.

The action has been taken after the comments of the hospital staff were made public.

The chat transcript came out in open and a complaint was made to police. This shocking incident has occurred in Sardarshahar town of Churu district in Rajasthan. A doctor and two other staffers at the Srichand Baradiya Rog Nidan Kendra, discussed it in a WhatsApp group.

After these screenshots were leaked, they were widely circulated. A formal complaint was made to the police. "A case has been registered agaisnt a doctor, a lab technician and a compounder after preliminary probe that suggested that they were biased against members of a religion", said a police official.

One of the hospital staffer had said that she vowed that she won't conduct X ray of Muslim patients while another suggested not admitting 'them'. Earlier, the hospital's owner had apologised for the comments made by the staff, and clearly said that his staff would never discriminate any patient on the basis of the religion.

Of late, such incidents have occurred where doctors have been in the dock and have faced allegations of discrimination. In UP, a leading government doctor was caught on camera, making objectionable comments while a person in her presence suggested giving 'that injection' (sic) to Tablighi Jamat members in hospitals. She later apologised and was transferred from Kanpur to Jhansi.

There have been instances where Muslim women have said that they were denied treatment because of their religion. One such incident had occurred in Buxar in Bihar. Another complaint was earlier made in Rajasthan too. This is even more shocking as doctors take Hippocratic Oath.
