NEW DELHI: As many as 28 staff members at the Zee News have tested positive for Coronavirus.
After one staffer tested positive, it was found that several other members of the team were affected. The office, newsroom and studios have been sealed for sanitization and the Zee news team has been shifted to an alternative facility.
Zee News' Editor-in-Chief Sudhir Chaudhary also tweeted the statement. It mentioned, 'These are difficult times. 28 of my colleagues at Zee News have tested positive for Covid-19. Thankfully all of them are fine, mostly asymptomatic...."
The Zee Media has issued a statement and mentioned that after 'one colleague tested positive for Covid-19.....we initiated mass testing of all those who could have been in direct or indirect contact with the said individual'.
The statement mentions that since NOIDA has lot of containment zones, aggresive testing, isolation and treatment is the only way to ensure the safety of the teammates. It also says that there may be a greater number of cases being identified, isolated and treated.
Meanwhile, the testing of the rest of employees will continue, says the company. Zee Media Corporation has around 2500 employees. This is one of the biggest number of media professionals in a news organisation found positive at one place.
