Youth4Children performs series of street plays in Bhopal to create awareness on child rights

BHOPAL: Youth4Children, a volunteer youth group, performed a series of street plays on the theme of child rights in various parts of Madhya Pradesh capital Bhopal in the past fortnight. In all, 12 such performances were held between January 17 and 31

These street plays spoke about child rights, in particular calling attention to the themes of education, violence against children, and call for child participation. The effort was technically supported by UNICEF.

A performance at the annual Bhopal Ustav Mela, got the attention of a large number of visitors to the fair.  Sunil Jainawin, Honorary Secretary, Ashok Gupta, Treasurer and Ajay Songani from Bhopal Utsav Mela committee appreciated the team for it’s though provoking performance. They encouraged them to take this forward in the fair next year too. 

Anil Gulati Communication Specialist and Sujan Sarkar, Planning and Monitoring Officer, UNICEF Madhya Pradesh congratulated the team and said that it is important to engage young people on issues of children.

A group of 14 youth members including Sahil, Neeru Diwakar, Riya Bahrani, Kanak Chelani, Somya Sunderani, Madhu Bodh, Sanjana Nimore, Vansh Sahu, Krish Parihar, Ayushi Gupta, Sejal Patel, Prakash Tripathi, Shoabh Khan, and Shubham Sharma were part of the performances.

These volunteers were trained on the theme of child rights and are picking up issues such as learning recovery, ending violence, gender discrimination, child participation etc.

Apart from the Utsav Mela, the performances were also held at Banganga, Platinum Plaza, New Market.
