Bhopal: A youth's family has been ostracised after he eloped with a girl.
The local panchayat has issued the diktat for social boycott of the entire family. Not just the youth's parents, his uncles' families have also been ostracised.
The incident occurred in Bhind. A 16-year-old girl went msising from her house in Endori near Gohad town.
The girl's kin lodged an FIR and suspected that Akash Tomar, who belongs to the same village, had taken away the girl.
Akash was arrested from his house after the complaint. But the girl appeared soon after. She reached the police station and said taht she had left home because she had been upset after her mother scolded her.
She refused to go home with the kin. The police sent her to children's welfare committee as she is a minor. Later, she was sent to Nari Niketan at Gwalior.
Meanwhile, after the incident, a panchayat was called at the local temple. In the presence of nearly 200 persons, it was decided that the youth's family should be socially boycotted by everyone.
The panchayat wanted the youth's kin to apologise and accept their mistake, however, they insisted that they were not at fault. The Panchayat decided to take action and issue the boycott call. The police said that they were looking into the incident.
