BHOPAL: BJP government’s stand on reservation in promotions has irked sections of Upper Castes in Madhya Pradesh.

The Upper Castes’ employees organizations are up in arms against the decision.

Within the state unit of the BJP also, there is a growing rift and unease over the party’s stand.

In fact, for Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led BJP government, it is turning into a big headache. On Sunday, a rally was taken out by employees' organisations that are against caste-based reservations.

Earlier, a meeting was held at Second Stop. Social groups, students organisations and employees' unions' members were part of the rally.

The speakers warned the BJP government for its stand in support of reservation in promotions. They said that the protests would be held across state.

Samanya, Pichhda Warg, Alpsankhyak Adhikari Karmachari Sangharsh Morcha (SAPAAKS) is the main organisation apart from Pragatishil Brahman Samaj, Akhil Bharatiya Kshatriya Mahasabha, Brahmin Mahasabha, Rashtriya Pratibha Bachao Sangathan and some other groups were part of the agitation.

In the BJP convention in Rewa recently, the rift was visible within the party over the decision. After  High Court termed reservation in promotion illegal, the BJP government said that reservation would continue and state government would go up to the Supreme Court and present its case, to ensure that the reservations continue in promotions.
