Bhopal: In another shocking incident highlighting the severe water crisis looming in various parts of state, two minor brothers died after they fell into a well trying to fetch water in Banihar (Sendhwa) of Barwani district.
The brothers, Vijay and Vinod, aged about 10 and 12, were trying to fetch water from a deep well when tragedy struck, sources said.
Children getting down into deep well to fetch water in Dindori district risking their lives had been highlighted by electronic media recently.
Social media trended the story of a 11-year-old girl from Beed in Maharastra who died of heart attack as she had to fetch water while being ill from a long distance.
At least ten states in country are reeling under drought and the number of affected people is said to be 33 crores. In MP over 33,200 villages in 228 tehsils of 35 districts were declared drought-hit after scarce monsoon in 2015.
