Bhopal: AII India Congress Committee general secretary and Digvijaya Singh has written to the chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on the issue of the government employees who fear sudden displacement from government quarters in Shivaji Nagar in wake of the locality being earmarked for Smart City project.
A former chief minister of the state, Singh has said in his letter that the government employees are being subject to injustice and should be treated better. The AICC general secretary has taken up cudgels for the government employees after reports surfaced that they might be asked to give up their government accommodations by as early as June 30.
Singh has urged the CM in his letter that the employees should not be displaced until proper alternative arrangements are done for them.
The local unit of Congress is already up in arms against selection of Shivaji Nagar locality for the Smart City project, on the grounds that environment would be hugely hit due to tree felling and large number of people would be displaced.
Continuous protests are being held on the issue since the plan for Smart City was announced.
