Bhopal: Saying that the negligence of the in-charge minister Bhupendra Singh (state transport minister) caused deaths of seven pilgrims at Simhastha, the state unit of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has demanded that criminal case (FIR) should be registered against him.
The party has also demanded resignation of the minister. State convener Alok Agrawal has said that despite forewarning from the Meteorology Department, the minister and the administration under him failed to take action to prevent the chaos at the Simhastha venue.
A delegation of AAP led by spokesman Akshay Hunka submitted a memorandum in the name of director general of police (DGP) and demanded that FIR be lodged, investigation done and legal action initiated against the minister as required.
Mismanagement and poor arrangements at the Simhastha venue have been raised earlier too by different persons including the attending seers.
On May 5, seven pilgrims died and over 100 were reportedly injured as tents collapsed following heavy rain and thundershowers.
