LUCKNOW: A right-wing monk allegedly made several controversial remarks at a programme in the Meerut University.

Swami Anand Swaroop, who was speaking from the dais, suggested 'economic, political and social boycott' of Muslims'.

'This would compel them to return to the Hindu-fold', the Swami further said. In this clip, he made highly inflammatory comments. Swami also made a derogatory remark about Muslims and said that they should leave Quran. He also said that Hindus should just vow that they won't buy goods from Muslims' shops.

This programme was held at the Chaudhary Charan Singh University on January 10, 2021.A video of this speech later went viral and was widely shared on the social media. After Md Asif Khan, a Twitter-user shared it, there was outrage on social media. Social media users sought action in this regard.

Senior journalist Kanchan Srivastava, tagged UP police, and asked if any action under the National Security Act (NSA) was being taken in this regard. Though no case has been registered so far, the UP Police handle informed her that Cyber Cell has been asked to conduct a probe in this regard.

Shockingly, the speech was made from the dais on the premises of the University. These derogatory comments have come to fore barely a few days after an inflammatory speech by a right-wing monk in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. That speech was also shared on social media.
