BHOPAL: Nepal president Bidhya Devi Bhandari has cancelled her visit to India, in the wake of the tragedy during the Simhastha.

The Nepal president was scheduled to come to India and she was supposed to visit Ujjain where the ardh-kumbh is being held.

But after the death of seven persons in Ujjain, she has decided not to come to India. The government of Nepal has confirmed that the visit has been cancelled.

Sources said that Bhandari was keen on India visit and her meeting with the President Dr Pranab Mukherjee. But the deaths after the storm, made her take the decision.

It is not clear yet if it was just Ujjain that prompted her to take the decision. Nepal has also called back its envoy. India and Nepal have been close friends for ages but lately there have been strains in the relationship. Hence, her visit was important for both the countries.
