The mystery surrounding Leena Sharma's disappearance and her murder has finally been solved.
Leena, a former employee with the US embassy, was killed by her own uncle, claimed the police.
The Delhi-based girl had come to Madhya Pradesh, to take care of ancestral property, was murdered and body was buried by the accused, Pradeep Sharma.
Pradeep Sharma, who is her maternal uncle, is a local Congress leader in Sohagpur in Hoshangabad district near Bhopal.
Leena and her sister inherited the house and 36 acres of land after death of their mother. But ever since she left Delhi, she went missing.
Her friends who were worried about her mysterious disappearance, started a campaign on Facebook, which prompted administration and police officials to sit up and take notice.
Leena had come to Bhopal and then went to Hoshangabad on April 28. Thereafter, she went missing. Her friend who lived in Bhopal had also informed police.
The police finally interrogated Pradeep Sharma, who has confessed that he had killed her over property. Sharma had been eyeing the land and was already in possession of 10 acres of land of the deceased.
During interrogation, he revealed the place where the body was buried. It was found that salt and urea was poured after the body was buried, so that it could decompose early.
In his defence, Sharma maintained that when Leena came and got poles installed on the land, he stopped her but she got angry and hit him, following which there was a row and his employees hit her. "The injury led to her death", he claimed.
Sharma and two other persons who worked for him, were part of the conspiracy. Sharma has been arrested. The police are interrogating him.
