BHOPAL: As many as 118 members of legislative assembly (MLAs) in Madhya Pradesh should be disqualified for holding office of profit. 

This demand was made by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) delegation that met Governor Ramnaresh Yadav on Monday. 

The members of the delegation made a formal complaint to the Governor and handed him a list of these legislators along with the plaint. The AAP leaders later said that if these MLAs are disqualified, Shivraj government would fall.

As many as 116 MLAs are members of Jan Bhagidari Samitis of the colleges across the state. This comes under house of profit. Two others--ministers Deepak Joshi and  Paras Jain are office bearers of Scouts and Guides.

The complaint is for violation of the articles 191(1) and 192 of the Constitution and the Representation of the People Act 1951. AAP leaders say that if these MLAs are disqualified, the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government would fall. 

AAP leaders Alok Agarwal, Akshay Hunka, Neha Bagga were part of this delegation that met the Governor today. The office of profit issue has led to major controversy in Delhi too, lately.
