Man who killed woman, 9 others to cover up girlfriend's murder, gets death penalty

HYDERABAD/WARANGAL: A man who killed nine persons including a child, to hide his crime of killing his girlfriend, has been given death penalty. 

Sanjay Kumar Yadav, 24, had killed Rafeeqa, when she asked him to marry her, and later in order to conceal the crime, he killed 9 others including six members of her family in May, 2020. 

In this case, he went to birthday party, mixed sedative in the food and when the people got unconscious, he threw bodies in the well. This case had sent shockwaves in the region. Sanjay, who worked with a gunnybag manufacturing unit, was in a relationship with Rafeeqa. 

The accused, who hailed from Bihar, had taken Rafiqa along with him on train and had killed her. He hid her body in Tadepally in West Godavari. When he returned, her relatives asked him about her. He initially misled them and during a birthday celebration at her kin Maqsood's house, gave them sedatives and threw bodies in the well. 

These bodies were later recovered. During investigation police also found that he had raped Rafiqa's minor daughter too. In this case too, police booked him under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. A video of the incident was in his mobile phone. The court has given death penalty to Sanjay for the Gorrekunta mass murder.
