Look forward to work with UNICEF for children and women of MP: Dy CM Rajendra Shukla

BHOPAL: Deputy chief minister of Madhya Pradesh Rajendra Shukla, who also holds the public health and medical education portfolio, visited UNICEF Office of Madhya Pradesh in Bhopal. He was welcomed by Anil Gulati, Officer in charge, UNICEF MP.
He learned about various programmes and sectors of the UNICEF that are supporting State Government for children and women of Madhya Pradesh. The team also briefed him of the efforts in area of health, nutrition, water & sanitation, communications to support the State efforts.
Anil Gulati, Officer in Charge praised the efforts of the state government for children and women by Madhya Pradesh and support being provided by the State departments.
Dr Prashanth, Health Specialist UNICEF, Madhya Pradesh and Dr Suresh Parmar, Nutrition officer UNICEF, MP made presentation on efforts for strengthening nutrition and health efforts particularly addressing infant and maternal mortality.
Rajendra Shukla, the Deputy Chief Minister appreciated work of UNICEF and said the government looked forward to work together with UNICEF and will also look into the suggestions provided by the team UNICEF for improving IMR, MMR and nutrition of children and women of Madhya Pradesh.
He said that efforts are in place including efforts on water and sanitation, but we will take inputs from UNICEF to strengthen it.
Narendra Singh Chouhan, WASH officer, Sujan Sarkar, Monitoring officer with UNICEF was present at the meeting. Later on Deputy Chief Minister addressed media representatives.
