Bhopal:
Senior Congress leader and member of parliament (MP) Kamal Nath could be handed over reins of Congress in Madhya Pradesh.
The party high-command is contemplating that veteran leader should be given the responsibility in order to strengthen the party in the State.
Sources suggest that Kamal Nath could be given an important national role in the party organisation along with charge of MPCC.
Madhya Pradesh remains important in the party's scheme of things but for the last 15 years, this state that was contributed to Congress' kitty heavily, has been a BJP den.
Arun Yadav has been leading the party in Madhya Pradesh right now. Though a young face, the party hasn't performed exceedingly well during recent years.
Factionalism also remains a major issue in Madhya Pradesh Congress. Jyotiraditya Scindia, Kamal Nath, Digvijaya Singh and Ajay Singh groups refuse to see eye to eye with each other.
Hence, party wants a senior leader to take over after a proper meeting of the veteran leaders and their assurance of proper cooperation, so that next election could be fought with a strong leader's face at the front.
