BHOPAL: The historic Samrat Ashok Technological Institute (SATI) is in a financial mess.
The situation has reached such a stage that even Provident Fund deposits are being curtailed.
The staff rues that the decisions are totally arbitrary and the management has failed to tide over the crisis. The faculty members are on warpath and there have been protests on a daily basis.
The SATI staff demand that State government should intervene. Staff laments that SATI has become a den of politics where people are ready to go any extent to save there chairs, disregarding the interests of the institute.
They assert that the management committee should have educationists and visionaries but sadly people who have exploitative tendencies have been taken in, resulting in the situation.
In a representation to district collector, a delegation of the college staff urged that the State government should completely take over the institute, which gets government grant, but is run by a management committee.
They complained that even benefit of dearness allowance is not being given to the staff as per the government's orders and the management curtails the amount. Professor Sandeep Saraf, Dr Rajendra Dubey, Dr Lokesh Bajpai were amongst those who were part of the delegation.
The employees are taking out marches, holding protests and demonstrations, even taking out a mock funeral procession of the management order. In a unique protest earlier, the SATI staff stood at the statue of the late Jiwaji Scindia, and pasted their memorandum there.
In this memo, they highlighted the problems faced by them and mentioned that the institute is being mismanaged. Jiwaji Rao Scindia was founder of the Bhelsa Education Society. The staff has said that the director has failed to bring the grant and is responsible for the situation. The staff alleges that there is no stability and the fear of losing job has gripped everybody.
