Bhopal: Citizens of state capital experienced an exceptionally uncomfortable day as Bhopal recorded the hottest day in known meteorological history.

The maximum temperature was recorded at 46.7 degrees Celsius – six degrees over normal mark as heat wave seared through Bhopal and many other part of MP.

Before this, on May 25, 2010, Bhopal had recorded maximum temperature of 46 degrees, which was highest known in meteorological records. But the temperature was breached by almost another degree on Friday, making it the hottest day ever known in Bhopal.

Rajgarh and Shajapur at 47 degrees remained the hottest place in MP, though Bhopal and Guna at 46.7 remained very close second. Khajuraho at 46.6 and Sagar at 46.4 were the other very hot places in MP.

There is no respite in sight, with the Meteorological Department predicting that the temperatures would continue to be around 46 degrees for next four to five days in Bhopal. Severe heat wave is likely in parts of northwest MP and in isolated areas in other parts.

TAKE PRECAUTIONS

Citizens across state are advised to take precautions against the extreme heat conditions. They should try to remain indoors between 11.00am and 5.00pm, should drink lots of liquids, avoid doing strenuous work in open, avoid sharp changes in temperatures (like from air-conditioned room to outdoors directly). Doctors should be consulted in case of heat wave symptoms like dizziness, fatigue, cramps, headache, nausea, vomiting or diarrhea.
