BHOPAL: A 12-year-old boy committed suicide allegedly due to teacher's harassment in Madhya Pradesh.
The boy, Priyanshu, hanged himself to death in Morena district in Madhya Pradesh.
In a hand-written suicide note, he mentioned that the teacher always targeted and mentally harassed him.
The boy wrote that he felt humiliated in front of everyone in the class. The latest incident was about a piece of paper kept by the teacher in the schoolboy's diary.
"The diary was in the school and when I returned next day, the paper was not there. Some other boy had taken it away but Sir felt that I had lost him. He humiliated me", wrote the boy.
In the letter written in Hindi, Priyanshu, addressed his parents, telling him that he knew that they would be angry. "I love you so much. Call uncle, grandfather...", he wrote ending the letter with his name. The boy studies in TSS school in Sundarpur in Morena.
After the family members found him hanging earlier this week, they took him to hospital. He was declared brought dead. The police later began investigation. The suicide-note was recovered in the house, written by him on two pages in a notebook in his own writing. The local police said that probe is on in the case. The incident and the minor boy's suicide note has shocked citizens, especially, parents in the region.
It also raises questions on how children are getting into depression and are unable to bear the academic pressure. Besides, lack of adequate understanding of the children's psychology, need for greater sensitivity among parents and teachers are needed. That children can take 'be-izzati' so seriously and decide ending lives should also prompt us to think about ways to made them tougher.
