Bhopal: Babulal Gaur, home minister of Madhya Pradesh, is facing severe heat after a video showing his 'touching a woman BJP worker inappropriately' went viral on Thursday.
The chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan reportedly summoned Gaur on Friday afternoon to seek clarification, sources said. Also, the woman in question reportedly quit BJP after the video went viral.
Even as Gaur clarified to news agencies that he had merely directed the women worker to board the proper bus during a Bhopal Municipal Corporation programme, condemnations and protests raged across state and on social media.
The local unit of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) held statewide protests seeking Gaur's resignation and were slated to meet union minister Sushma Swaraj on Friday evening.
COMPLAINT TO WOMEN'S COMMISSION:
Meanwhile, social activist Ajay Dubey forwarded a complaint to the National Commission for Women, urging appropriate action against the 'high profile accused' for molesting a woman.
Dubey also wrote to director general of police Surendra Sinh, pointing out that no police action as been initiated against Gaur for his 'criminal offence'. Also the activist urged the DGP to ensure that Gaur was not allowed to visit the Simhastha congregation.
