COVID-19 vaccination heroes felicitated, share experiences at UNICEF media meet

ORCHHA: Three auxiliary nurse midwives (ANMs) from Niwari district who worked tirelessly to ensure maximum reach of both doses of COVID-19 vaccine to eligible population, were felicitated and shared their experiences at a daylong sharing and learning meet with media personnel organised by UNICEF office, Madhya Pradesh.
The meet was held at Orchha in association with Madhya Pradesh health department and the National Health Mission. The COVID-19 hero ANMs who were felicitated on the occasion included Sunita Ahirwar, Umar Ahirwar and Ram Kumari Ahirwar.
Media professionals from print, radio, TV, and social media channels participated in the meet.
Margaret Gwada, Chief UNICEF, Madhya Pradesh, while speaking on the occasion, said “Madhya Pradesh has done great job in administering 130 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine with first dose coverage of 97 percent and second dose coverage of 94 percent,”
“This demonstrates tremendous efforts and dedication right from the highest authority of the chief minister, health department, frontline workers and all the vaccinators at ground who achieved this. However we need to use this energy to reach out to the eligible population with precaution doses and re-energize efforts towards routine immunization for all children of Madhya Pradesh. Immunization is the right of each and every child,” she added.
Dr Santosh Shukla, Director Immunization, MP health department, shared the story of vaccination journey in Madhya Pradesh and the efforts done by the department, particularly the staff in the field who made sure that state achieved high rates of COVID19 vaccination. He called for similar efforts for precaution doses for the state to achieve its complete target.
Vipin Shrivastava, State Cold Chain officer spoke on the way they make sure that cold chain doesn't break when the vaccine is transported across the state. Dr Ravindra Bagal, health officer, UNICEF MP, briefed the participants on the need of routine immunization for children of the State.
Anil Gulati, communication specialist, UNICEF MP, facilitated the meet, gave details of the objectives and called upon the media to support routine immunization efforts of the state and.
Kailash Pandey, an artist from Niwari, sang some songs, which he originally used during COVID-19 immunisation drive in the district to encourage people to come forward for COVID 19 vaccination and now routine immunization.
Media participants also shared out of box creative ideas and plans on how to make sure that the state is able to reach out to each and every child with vaccination.
