BHOPAL: In a major decision, chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has ordered FIR against the in-charge of police outpost for failing to register case after gang rape with a Dalit woman.
Chouhan has also directed that the policeman should be arrested. After the gang rape, the local police hadn't registered the case and she had ended her life. This incident occurred under the jurisdiction of Chichli police station in Narsinhpur district in Madhya Pradesh.
The victim was raped by three persons--Anil, Gudda and Parsu. The family members went to police station but the FIR was not regsitered. They made rounds for days, however, instead, they were locked up and the victim was abused. Even, there was financial demand from the woman to release her kin. Upset, she committed suicide.
Two of the three accused have now been arrested. The chief minister has also said that the Additional SP and Sub Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) have been shifted and explanation sought from the SP who is on leave. More importantly, the police outpost in-charge has to be booked and arrested, said the CM.
He further said that, "atrocities against mothers and sisters won't be tolerated in Madhya Pradesh. The rapists are monsters and have no right to live in a civilized society. They will get stern punishment", he said. The decision is significant as generally there are suspensions and transfers but FIR against policemen for failing in their duty and order to arrest, is extremely rare.
