Raipur: Senior Congress leader Ajit Jogi is all set to split the party and float his own political party.
Jogi has given indications that he will formally make an announcement in this regard on June 6.
The former Chief minister has said that the party's symbol and flag would also be decided soon.
Talking to media persons, Jogi said that Congress in Chhattisgarh had become a B team of Raman Singh-led BJP and there was no ideology left in the party.
He said that he had informed party chief Sonia Gandhi about his desire to quit the party. In Marwahi, he would meet his supporters, seek advices and then formally announce the party, its name and symbol.
Jogi and his son Amit have been at loggerheads with the Congress leadership in Chhattisgarh. Though an influential leader, he has been often accused of anti-party activities by some Congress leaders.
The first chief minister of Chhattisgarh, after it was carved out from Madhya Pradesh, Jogi has been a Lok Sabha member twice, and has been in Rajya Sabha also for two terms. His exit is likely to affect the Congress. Also, it will make the next election more interesting, with three parties vying for votes in a bipolar state.
