Bloggers from Bhopal, Indore and Dhar to contribute to GoBlue theme on World Children’s Day

BHOPAL: More than 80 bloggers and social media users from Bhopal, Indore and Dhar districts on Wednesday committed to using their respective social media platforms to promote the themes for the World Children’s Day (November 20).

Among the themes is also the ‘GoBlue’ initiative where public places and buildings are given a blue theme to create awareness on children’s issues.

The commitment came during a bloggers’ meeting organised by UNICEF, Madhya Pradesh and DAVV (Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya) School of Journalism and Mass Communication. In all about 84 social media bloggers and social media users participated in the online meet. 

They were oriented on the themes of World Children's day and child rights that are around climate change and impact of COVID19 on children this year, while GoBlue and Take Over remained as overarching theme. They were told how such occasion and initiatives could be used as an opportunity to give a platform to children.

Communication Specialist, UNICEF, Madhya Pradesh Anil Gulati and Idhries Ahmad, Communication Officer, UNICEF India interacted with the participants. A presentation on the two themes and what can bloggers do was made. Various materials that the social media users can make use of for promotion of World Children’s Day themes were also shared with them.  

Daya Shankar Mishra Executive Editor, News 18 Madhya Pradesh said that the network will support the process and provide space for children issues, Praveen Singhal of Stage, Advocate Anand Sharma, and other social media influencers said that as part of their commitment they will give space and platform to children on the day. 

Dr Sonalee Nargunde, Head of Department of Journalism and Mass Communication said that they will take up the GoBlue theme in every possible way and will also come out with publications on two themes so as to be a part of raising discourse on the theme of climate change.
