Toxic liquor leads to death of 11 persons in Madhya Pradesh, several hospitalized

BHOPAL: Eleven persons have died after consumption of toxic liquor in Morena district in the Gwalior-Chambal region of northern Madhya Pradesh.


This incident occurred on January 11. The deaths were reported mainly from Manpur and Pahawali that are not far from the district headquarters in Morena.


Apart from those who died, several other people are undergoing treatment in the hospital. The local officials said that a probe is on and those involved in sale and production of spurious liquor, are being arrested.


Just a few months ago, 11 people were killed after consumption of spurious liquor in Ujjain district. The incident had occurred in October, 2020. Despite claims of action against liquor mafia, such incidents continue. The state government has said that it will take tough action.
