Man who planted bomb at Mangalore airport gets nabbed, police interrogating terror suspect

BENGALURU: The man who had planted a bomb at the Mangalore airport in Karnataka has been nabbed finally, said the police on Wednesday.

The suspect, Aditya Rao, has been arrested. He is in custody and is being interrogated. Rao had planted the bomb on January 20. The IED was placed in a bag that was left on the airport premises. He was wearing a cap and had left the airport in an auto-rickshaw.

Rao, who hails from Udupi, was identified on the basis of the CCTV footage. After the bag containing the device was found, the special squad team triggered a controlled blast in an open field to defuse it.

The local police are now interrogating him to find out how he learnt assembling the device. Also, his links are being probed. The man had reportedly had a brush with law in the past as well. Rao is now in the custody of Mangalore police and the interrogation is on.
