'Children must feel comfortable with police, not fear them'

HARDA: Children are often scolded at home and are casually warned that if they didn't obey the elders, police will come and take them away.
These words have an impact on kid's mind and create a negative image of the police. In order to change this perception, this police station in Madhya Pradesh has taken a step forward to make kids feel at home.
The children who come with their parents to lodge a complaint or school students who come for a visit, feel that it is a friendly place with colours, pictures of animals and birds, forest. Superintendent of Police (SP), Harda, Rajesh Singh says that this is to establish a connect with people. The message is that police if for citizen and kids' help, as a friend in need. It is part of the 'Bal-mitra' initiative.
