Apex court declares consensual gay sex legal in India

NEW DELHI: Supreme Court has decriminalized gay sex in India. Consensual homosexual relations will no longer be treated as offence.

A five-judge bench unanimously took the decision. SC termed the section as irrational, discriminatory and against the principles of equality.

Gay activists, LGBT groups have hailed the verdict. They have termed it historic and have begun celebrations across the country.
