BHOPAL: 'The Immortals 2', a major and much awaited book on the life of 155 freedom fighters including martyrs, has finally been released.

The voluminous book carries information in the form of biographical sketches along with portraits of the leaders and activists of freedom struggle, many of whom laid their lives and happily chose the path to gallows, thus paving the way for India's freedom.

The earlier book was a spectacular success and turned out to be a bestseller. It too featured leading freedom fighters and martyrs along with their sketches and profiles. However, the second book has a large number of such heroes who have not been given adequate attention in text books.

The author, Syed Naseer Ahamed, who hails from Guntur in Andhra Pradesh, terms the book as an album that is a result of eight years of his research and labour in finding details about the great personalities who fought against the British rule and faced severe consequences just because of their love for the motherland.

Importantly, the book mentions the role of freedom fighters like Wali Shah, Nawab Abdur Rahman, Turrebaz Khan, Dada Abdullah, Nawab Ali Bahadur, Maulvi Liaqaut Husain, Hifzur Rahman Seoharwi, Hafiz Mohammad Ibrahim, Ansar Harvani, Shaukatullah Ansari and many others that should be part of syllabus.

Besides, the struggle of women freedom fighters ranging from Sakinatul Fatima to Begam Aamina Tyebji, Atiya Fyzie, Sughra Khatoon, Begam Rehana Abbas, Surayya Badruddin, Begum Khursheed Khwaja, Azeezan, Sakina Luqmani, Fathima Ismail, Zohra Ansari, Zahra Dawoodi and Meher Taj Begum, has also been mentioned in this book.

Long ago, Syed Naseer Ahamed had realised that the role of Muslims in the freedom struggle doesn't get adequate attention and except a few names, most of the prominent leaders have been forgotten. Since then, he began his work on the project. After the first book that was published in English and Telugu, he wrote many other books on freedom fighters.

However, this second volume has now finally arrived in the market. The Azad House of Publications has printed it. Priced at Rs 1,000 this book is a must for book lovers and those who are interested in history as well as freedom struggle. It should be in most libraries as well. The author can be contacted at his Email: naseerahamedsyed@gmail.com.

In his efforts, he got support from lot of people and he has mentioned the names of these people in the foreword.
