BHOPAL: The Lok Sabha speaker has been urged to take action against a member of parliament (MP) for repeatedly making allegedly inflammatory remarks and divisive comments.
Alok Sharma, the MP, who represents the Bhopal Lok Sabha constituency in the Parliament, has been in the centre of controversies over his recent statements.
Now, a complaint has been made to Speaker, seeking action against him for his comments that go against the spirit of law and constitution. The plaint has also been sent to the President of India for perusal. It is said that he has violated his oath and has overstepped the line, as a leader is bound by oath to serve the nation, without any favour to any community.
Besides, he shouldn't display discrimination or say something that hurts the unity and integrity of the nation. Sharma was in the news for his remarks when he said that he was born to teach a lesson to those who wear topi and sport a beard. Also, he allegedly said that the Gyms shouldn't allow members of the Muslim community. Besides, he also said that youth of a community who enter a relationship with woman with other community, should be sterilized.
"This is absolutely unjustified as a MP represents the entire constituency and he must not utter words that divide society on communal and religious line", says Jaswinder Singh, who has made a complaint against the MP. Singh, who is state secretary of the CPI(M) has sent the letter that says, "Sharma has made objectionable statements that go against the spirit of constitution and as a member of parliament, it is completely unjustified", Singh further says.
In his complaint, he says that there is a need for protect the constitutional values in the country. Alok Sharma has made several comments in recent months, publicly, and had used words like 'Love Jihad' and 'Land Jihad', apart from using comments that are insulting and derogatory to a community.
"The statement about sterilizing Muslim youth, is clearly against communal harmony. Such remarks not only increase hate in society but all such inflammatory comments affect peace and harmony in the nation. Besides, these are against the Article 15 and Article 21 of Indian Constitution", Singh said.
In the complaint, Jaswinder Singh has also demanded a probe into the allegedly inflammatory and communal comments apart from action against him. Also, the Speaker has been urged to take steps to ensure that such statements aren't made in future and the communal harmony must prevail".
