MPHRC seeks report from DIG over assault with women, minor girl in Qazi Camp
BHOPAL: The Madhya Pradesh Human Rights Commission (MPHRC) has taken cognisance of the assault with women and minor girl in Qazi Camp in Bhopal recently.
It has sought report from the DIG regaring the incident that took place earlier this week. The policemen had barged into the house, beaten up women and rummaged the entire house.
After the incident came to light, the panel has sought a report from the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in this regard. The Commission chairperson has asked the police to reply in four weeks.
Legislator Arif Aqueel had written a letter and said that the incident was captured in CCTV and should be probed. He said that a high-ranking officer should conduct probe and the case against women should be withdrawn. The rights panel has now sought a report from DIG about it.
After the incident, policemen barged into the house, attacked women--Shahin, 40, Shadma, 25, Uzma, 30 a, even a minor 12-year-old girl was among the victims. "The incident was recorded in cameras in the shop, fair probe is needed.
The policemen had gone out to enforce night curfew when it was alleged that Zaheer threw tea at them. Under the pretext of restrictions during lockdown, the police personnel entered the tea shop to close it down, and had a scuffle but it was given a totally different colour, he said, demanding action in the case.
