Sterlite plant to be permanently shut in Tamil Nadu

The Sterlite copper plant in Tamil Nadu's Tuticorin that was the target of local residents' ire because of large-scale pollution, would be permanently shut. The Tamil Nadu government on Monday issued order for permanent closure of the plant. As many as 13 persons were killed in police firing on protesters at Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu.
